Information and communication technology has been providing a more effectively network infrastructure and development platform for the logistics and service operations. In order to meet the needs of consumers, and particularly promote low-carbon economic development process, new types of services also will emerge. LISS’2011 is a prime international forum for both researchers and industry practitioners to exchange the latest fundamental advances in the state of the art and practice of logistics, informatics, service operations and service science. Related domain experts and scholars will discuss academic issues, seize future development opportunities, master the subject developing tendency and exchange the latest research and academic thinking. The theme of the conference is Logistics and Service Science based on the Internet of things.
LISS’2011 will be co-located with the ICEIS 2011, which sponsored by INSTICC (Institute of Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication, Portugal). INSTICC is one of very influential international academic conference series in the world. 1-3 December, Linköping, Sweden
http://www.servdes.org/
The Nordic Conference on Service Design and Service Innovation, ServDes, is the premier research conference within service design and service innovation. The conference starts with an UnConference day December 1st, and continues with 2 days of research presentations, case presentations and workshops.
All confirmed presentations of contributions can be found at http://www.servdes.org/conference/papers.
We invite you to submit a paper/abstract to The 3rd International Symposium on Engineering Education and Educational Technologies: EEET 2011 (www.2011iiisconferences.org/eeet), to be held in the context of The 4th International Multi-Conference on Engineering and Technological Innovation: IMETI 2011, in Orlando, Florida, USA, on July 19th – July 22nd, 2011 (www.2011iiisconferences.org/imeti)
Below are the next deadlines for EEET 2011 (Check the web site for possible extensions or new set of deadlines):
Papers/Abstracts Submission and Invited Session Proposals: November 16th,
Authors Notifications: January 24th, 2011
Camera-ready, full papers: February 14th, 2011
Technical keynote speakers will be selected from early submissions because this selection requires an additional evaluation according to the quality of the paper, assessed by its reviewers, the authors’ CV and the paper’s topic.
Submissions for Face-to-Face or for Virtual Participation are both accepted. Both kinds of submissions will have the same reviewing process and the accepted papers will be included in the same proceedings.
All submitted papers/abstracts will go through three reviewing processes: (1) double-blind (at least three reviewers), (2) non-blind, and (3) participative peer reviews. These three kinds of review will support the selection process of those papers/abstracts that will be accepted for their presentation at the conference, as well as those to be selected for their publication in JSCI Journal.
Pre-Conference and Post-conference Virtual sessions (via electronic forums) will be held for each session included in the conference program, so that sessions papers can be read before the conference, and authors presenting at the same session can interact during one week before and after the conference. Authors can also participate in peer-to-peer reviewing in virtual sessions.
Authors of accepted papers who registered in the conference can have access to the evaluations and possible feedback provided by the reviewers who recommended the acceptance of their papers/abstracts, so they can accordingly improve the final version of their papers. Non-registered authors will not have access to the reviews of their respective submissions.
Registration fees of an effective invited session organizer will be waived according to the policy described in the web page (click on ‘Invited Session’, then on ‘Benefits for the Organizers of Invited Sessions’), where you can get information about the ten benefits for an invited session organizer. For Invited Sessions Proposals, please visit the conference web site, or directly to http://www.2011iiisconferences.org/eeet/organizer.asp
Authors of the best 10%-20% of the papers presented at the conference (included those virtually presented) will be invited to adapt their papers for their publication in the Journal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics.
Best regards,
EEET 2011 Organizing Committee
Are you interested in how operations research and management science can be applied to systems with public impact? For example, an animal shelter with arrivals and adoptions is a service system, government agencies design processes that deliver services to taxpayers (e.g., building permits or justice and protection), and after disasters Non-Governmental Organizations provide health, food, water, or other services to beneficiaries.
If you are interested in learning more about doing research in public impact areas or networking with those who do, then I have an event for you. The newly formed (and longly named) Section on Public Programs, Service, and Needs (or SPPSN) is hosting a new lunch event at INFORMS on Monday, Nov 8 from 12.30 to 1.30pm. Sign up in advance to get a lunch ticket, then join us for a special meeting. (And to think, this meeting won’t conflict with the other 20 business meetings in the evenings!) The event is partially sponsored by several institutions listed below, so the cost is low for you, just $10 for non-members or $5 for members. You can learn more about activities in the public areas, and chat with like-minded colleagues as you enjoy an easy lunch option. (And of course, your meal is likely reimbursable from your institution with the
receipt!)
To attend the lunch, check “SPPSN lunch” box on the INFORMS registration online (http://meetings2.informs.org/Conf/Austin2010/registration.html),
or on the attached conference registration form, which you should fax to INFORMS using the number at the bottom or by email to meetings@informs.org. If you have already registered for INFORMS Austin but not the SPPSN lunch, you should fill out the attached conference registration form only. You are also welcome to attend the meeting but not eat lunch. (If you want to join the section so you will learn about future activities, then you can do that using the links below, and it is only $4.)
Our faculty opens a new position of Assoc. Prof. at the Department of
Computer Systems and Communication for the Service Science, Management,
and Engineering study branch. It is expected to substitute me in the
position of SSME study field leader in 3 or 4 years. Of course I will
continue in work in SSME both in teaching and research, as I am very
deeply involved in this field. This action is initiated by our aim to
expand the field which is very successful from the point of view of the
interest of students–the second largest master study branch at faculty
after two years existence (approx. 140 students).
