New leadership minor modeled on SSME program guide

Mount Marty College has launched a new leadership minor for undergraduates that truly follows the spirit of the interdisciplinary program guide.  Bonita Gacnik, O.S.B., Ph.D contacted me about a year ago to understand the guide and ideas about service science.  Then she and her team made it their own, to fit local needs and Mt Marty’s strengths.  Others could look at this program and gather ideas for creating new programs.

Third International Conference on Exploring Services Sciences

Call for Papers

Building on previous editions (2010 and 2011) and the growing momentum in this emerging and exciting discipline, IESS is further strengthening its position as an academic conference focusing on the exploratory aspects surrounding services science. Acknowledging the relative recency of this area and its essential interdisciplinary setting the goal of IESS is to offer academics, researchers and practitioners of all disciplines this exploratory outlet to communicate and share their results. To achieve the best possible mix of disciplines and approaches, the call for papers is structured around general research thematic and specific tracks. General research thematic includes Service Engineering and Service Management. Specific tracks cover several domains and represent a more specialized research area.

For IESS1.2, we invite authors to submit their original research manuscript to the conference either in one of the following tracks below:

The list of Tracks is open and we invite all interested researcher by the organization of a specific track to submit a track proposition no later than 17th September 2011.

2nd ICSEM Intl Conf on Emerging Markets

2nd International Conference on Services in Emerging Markets (ICSEM) http://www.som.iitb.ac.in/ICSEM2011/ is being jointly organized by Shailesh J Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay (www.som.iitb.ac.in) with the Service Research and Innovation Institute (India Chapter) (www.thesrii.org) at IIT Bombay between September 29 – October 1, 2011. The objective of this conference is to provide a venue for academics, government. NGOs, and industry to present, demonstrate and discuss the latest ideas about the Services Innovations which are driving governments and industry in delivering services. This will also be an opportunity for the community to discuss and debate the state and the evolution of the Services from and to Emerging Markets. The technical program for the three-day conference will include refereed papers and case study presentations, plenary talks, panels, tutorials and Service Innovation Challenge. Submissions to all these tracks are invited.

Center for Complexity in Business CFP

http://www.rhsmith.umd.edu/ccb/conference/2011/

The Center for Complexity in Business invites you to submit an abstract for consideration for the 3rd annual Complexity in Business Conference. The conference will be held in Washington DC on October 14th, 2011.

Submissions are encouraged that apply complex systems methods to any area of management science. Areas of focus include agent-based modeling, network science (social network analysis), nonlinear optimization (machine learning), spatial modeling (geographic information systems) and other techniques to analyze and solve problems that arise when large numbers of entities (consumers, employees, traders, firms, etc.) interact in ways that are too complex to be understood by more traditional management research tools. Interesting submissions could be based in practically any area of modern management, including marketing, information systems, operations and logistics, finance, and organization science. Specific topics might include:

·      Computational Consumer Behavior Modeling

·      Geography and Computational Modeling

·      Diffusion of Innovation

·      Network-based Organizational Learning

·      Advanced Data Mining and Agent-based Modeling

·      Leverage Points and Scenario Analysis

·      Understanding the Economic and Cultural Implications of Internet-enabled Social Media

CFP ICORES (1st International Conference on Operations Research and Enterprise Systems

ICORES (1st International Conference on Operations Research and Enterprise Systems – http://www.icores.org/) has an open call for papers, whose deadline is set for July 27, 2011. We hope you can participate in this conference by submitting a paper reflecting your current research in any of the following tracks:
– Methodologies and Technologies
– Applications

ICORES 2012 will be held in Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal next year, on February 4-6, 2012.
The conference will be sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and technically co-sponsored by APDIO (Associacao Portuguesa de Investigação Operacional).
INSTICC is member of the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC).

ICORES would like to become a major point of contact between researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in the advances and applications in the field of operations research. CEFZ
Since the conference focuses on real world applications, the authors should highlight the benefits of Operations Research Methodologies and Technologies for industry and services, either in general or for particular applications. Ideas on how to solve business problems, using operations research methodologies and technologies, will arise from the conference. Papers describing advanced prototypes, systems, case studies, tools and techniques and general survey papers indicating future directions are also encouraged.

The conference program features a number of Keynote Lectures to be delivered by distinguished world-class researchers, including those listed below.

The proceedings of ICORES will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), INSPEC, DBLP and Elsevier Index (EI).
All accepted papers (full, short and posters) will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support.
A short list of the best presented papers will be published in a special issue of The Open Operational Research Journal entitled OR Methodologies and Technologies in Decision Making.

Best paper awards will be distributed during the conference closing session. Please check the website for further information (http://www.icores.org/best_paper_awards.asp).

All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SciTePress Digital Library (http://www.scitepress.org/DigitalLibrary/). SciTePress is member of CrossRef (http://www.crossref.org/).

Workshops, Special sessions as well as tutorials dedicated to technical/scientific topics are also envisaged: companies interested in presenting their products/methodologies or researchers interested in holding a tutorial are invited to contact the conference secretariat. Workshop chairs and Special Session chairs will benefit from logistics support and other types of support, including secretariat and financial support, to facilitate the development of a valid idea.

Please check further details at the ICORES conference website (http://www.icores.org).
Should you have any question please don’t hesitate contacting me.

ICORES 2012 will be held in conjunction with ICAART 2012 (http://www.icaart.org/) and ICPRAM (http://www.icpram.org/) in Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal. Registration to ICORES will enable free access to the ICAART and ICPRAM conferences (as a non-speaker).
