India: SPJIMR SSME Center offers the “Advanced Certificate Program with Services” (ACPS) in partnership with IBM.  Center brochure

New in Italy: Master in ICT Management program at the Universita Milano Bicocca.  Here’s a tri-fold.

NEW Masters of Business and Science at Rutgers - Designed togive students “T” shaped skills – The MBS degree is part of a national movement of Professional Science Master’s programs that brings together master’s level study in science, engineering, and math with “plus” courses in business and policy.

The following people have been experimenting with me by analyzing their programs against some suggested standard service science criteria. I wish to gratefully acknowledge them here and will provide a summary of what we discovered in 3Q2010.

Universidade do Porto, Master in Services Engineering and Management João Falcão e Cunha

University of Pretoria, Engineering Service Science, Richard Weeks

Stevens Institute, Service Management,  Michael Parfett

RMIT University, School of Business IT, Program Director – Master of Business Services Science, Hossein Zadeh

This is a new graduate research program at the University of Twente.

Here’s Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering – they produce “T” shaped individuals from the “Olin Triangle” – deep in science and technology, enhanced with entrepreneurship and liberal arts.

Check out the University of Illinois’ “ifoundry“.  Their manifesto is to transform engineering education for the 21st century.  Initiatives informed by the likes of Daniel Goldberg, Daniel Pink and the National Academy of Engineering are getting to students in their first year of college.

Take a look at Tuft’s Gordon Institute for examples of engineering programs that stretch the student across the top of the “T”.   The undergraduate Entrepreneurial Leadership Minor lists courses that reach the dimensions of the service science triad:  business and social sciences; while the major course work covers the technical (engineering).  The Engineering Management Minor accomplishes the same goal.

Gordon Institute’s Master’s in Engineering Management based on integrated course modules and real life experience is oriented to broadening the engineers’ expertise.

Here’s a new one:  Institute for Advanced Analytics at North Carolina State University

This is a list of universities that have given me a link to a program description that has elements of service science — there might be a focus on service contexts rather than manufacturing, there might be a set of courses collected to improve the “T” shape skills.
